Mature leaves reach around 40 to 60cm long.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003chr\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eGrowth and size\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe plant grows from a central base, sending up new leaves one at a time on long upright stems. Each new leaf emerges rolled and unfurls over several days. Indoors it reaches around 1 to 1.5m tall and spreads to about a metre. It grows through the New Zealand growing season, October to April, and slows over winter.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003chr\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWinter behaviour:\u003c\/strong\u003e Growth slows or pauses over winter and the plant may drop an older leaf.
