Schefflera Alpine has glossy leaves made up of several oval leaflets that spread out from the tip of a slim stalk like the spokes of an umbrella. The leaflets are deep green and lightly glossy, and new growth comes through a soft red bronze before it turns green. It builds into a dense, upright, bushy plant.
Growth & size
Stems grow upright and branch out as the plant fills in, each one topped with a ring of leaflets. It is tough and quick, and its habit is columnar rather than bushy, so it puts on height before it puts on width. Indoors it gets to around 1.5m and will keep going past that if you let it. It takes pruning well at any point if you want it shorter or fuller. It grows most over the New Zealand growing season from October to April.
