Anthurium Esudo has glossy heart-shaped spathes in clear red, each one 7 to 9cm across with a smooth surface that curves back slightly. A cream spadix stands upright at the front of each one and turns yellow as it ages. The leaves are mid to deep green and glossy, heart-shaped with a pointed tip, on slim green stalks.
Growth & size
New leaves and flower stems come up together from a central base, and Esudo tends to have several blooms open at once rather than one at a time. Each spathe keeps its colour for six to eight weeks before fading to green. Indoors it gets to around 35 to 45cm tall and a bit less across. It flowers through most of the year in a warm room, with the heaviest run over the New Zealand growing season from October to April.
