The Boston Fern has long fronds arching out from a central crown, each one divided into rows of small soft green leaflets. They start upright and bend out as they lengthen, which gives the plant a full, feathery shape. New fronds uncurl from the middle as pale coils.

Growth & size

Fronds grow from a central crown and arch further out as they extend, so the plant builds into a soft, spreading shape. Indoors it gets to around 40 to 60cm across, wider than it is tall. It grows most over the New Zealand growing season from October to April.

Keep it humid

Boston ferns keep their fronds best in steady humidity, so it does well in a bathroom, grouped with other plants, or with a humidifier nearby through a dry New Zealand winter.

Non-toxic to cats and dogs. Comes in a 14cm plastic nursery pot.
